Hi loves! Thank you for your patience as I’m recovering from my recent surgery. I’m feeling much better and continue the recovery and healing process each day.
Today I wanted to talk to you about organizing…I’ve been doing a lot of it lately to my own room, car and general areas and I’ll be sharing a lot of that with you all in the next couple of weeks.
Today I’m going to show you how I organized my small travel bag where I keep my toiletries. I take this travel bag with me every other weekend when I go visit my fiance (we take turns traveling to each other).
This specific travel bag was gifted to me by a lovely lady from church. She said that when she saw this bag in the store, she thought of me and had to get it for me. It was so thoughtful and sweet! I love it! It is the perfect size to fit all my essential toiletries needed when traveling. However, the bag has no real structure or organizing system inside so when I did put all my toiletries in the bag, they kind of got lost in there. I didn’t like how I couldn’t see everything I had in there just by glancing over it, so I knew I had to figure a way to organize it somehow. So if you have a similar bag that has no structure, I found a way to make it work for me and hopefully it works for you too.
I wanted to organize it in a way that by just opening my bag, I could see everything I had in there and by quickly browsing, I could find what I needed. But how? Luckily, I had just cleaned out by deep drawer in my bathroom and had gotten rid of all my old makeup and I just re-organized that whole drawer (that’s a whole other post) and I had freed up some organizing units that I could now use.
I got this cute organizing unit from the dollar spot at Target a couple years ago. Target might not have this specific organizing unit, but I’m sure that you can find similar (if not, prettier) ones there or at your nearest dollar store. Since most of my toiletry items are travel size, they fit perfectly in this organizing unit.
The best part is that the toiletries could be standing up and I can now see everything in the bag by just glancing. Not only does it look so much better, but it’s a lot quicker to find what I need. That’s a win!
I was so lucky that the organizing unit fit perfectly in my travel bag and still left a bit of extra room to the side. There were some items that didn’t fit in the organizing unit like my loofah, hairbrush, razors, and floss picks.
It’s okay that they didn’t fit in the organizing unit because I still had plenty of space in my bag where I could put them in laying down.
And this is the final look! I love how I can see everything I have in my toiletry bag and it looks so much better and functional! I love it!
