Five years ago, I was diagnosed with a benign tumor in my right breast. It was a tiny thing, and every time that I went for a follow-up, it seemed to stay the same size so it wasn’t all that concerning to me.
At the beginning of January 2016, I went in to the doctor to have an ultrasound done to follow up on it. I went in expecting to hear that everything was fine and that it was the same size and that they would see me back in a year or so to do a routine follow-up again.
Except that was not the case. The stinking tumor had doubled in size. BOO!!
The doctor is recommending I have it surgically removed because now it appears to be growing at a rapid rate. She also told me that if I plan on having more family in the future, it’s probably best to get it removed beforehand because the hormones from pregnancy can dramatically alter the growth of the tumor.
I have decided that I want to get it removed and just get it over with! And hopefully no new ones will arise. The surgery won’t happen from one day to another. I still have to go through a process. I have to go to my primary physician, then be referred to a surgeon, wait for the insurance authorization, go see the surgeon, and finally make an appointment for the surgery.
I will update you all when the time comes.
