It’s never been a huge deal for me. But things changed last year. To be totally and completely honest, I had never really had a Valentine’s date ever! Last year, I started dating my current boyfriend starting in January 2015. So Valentine’s Day 2015 was pretty special because it was my first Valentine’s day date! I honestly was not expecting what happened that evening and the few days beforehand. On February 12, I got a dozen chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to my work! On February 13, I got two dozen red roses delivered to work as well. And on February 14 (V-Day), I got surprised with a huge teddy bear (whose name is now “Beary”), a huge Valentine’s card (almost as tall as me), a limo (with wine), and dinner at Fleming’s. And of course my date made our relationship official on this very special day…therefore our anniversary is on Valentine’s Day! Everyone I tell says, “Wow super cheesy!” Yup it is cheesy, but I love it!
As for me, I sent my date a dozen red roses to work on February 13 and made him something hand-made for February 14. I cut out a bunch of hearts and put something on each heart that I liked about him or a line from a song that we both enjoyed. I put all my little hearts and put them in a red box. I also made him a ladybug craft that I was making at work with some of my little kids, it was really cute! But compared to me, let’s just say he swept me off my feet!
And now (tan-tan-tan!), our one-year anniversary is approaching rather quickly! ( I can count down the days with my fingers)
We both agreed that this Valentine’s Day won’t be too extravagant (aka no limo!).
I want to keep it a tradition to send flowers to him because I don’t think girls should be the only ones to receive flowers. He personally loves them! And he takes a lot better care of them than I do. So this Friday at work, he will be receiving a dozen red roses with chocolates!
Saturday is still a mystery (he likes to keep me in suspense), that’s the day that we are celebrating our anniversary and having our special one-on-one time with no kids even though it’s not on our actual anniversary day. On Sunday the 14th, I have a dozen chocolate-covered strawberries being delivered to his house and we are all doing something as a family! (psst…I’m also making a little treat for our two boys so they can celebrate with us! I’ll post it sometime this week).
Also since we met on eHarmony, I went on their website and filled out some stuff to let them know that I found my special someone on their site and they sent me a personalized document of all of our (me and my boyfriend’s) conversations, which lists in detail who made the first move and the questions and answers we made to each other. It is really cute! I can’t wait to see his face when I give it to him. That will be part of my gift to him!
So I don’t have one huge gift for him, but rather several smaller things. Besides the flowers and the eHarmony communication document, I’m preparing him a basket of sweets with his favorite ice cream, candies and dessert (tiramisu). And I’m also getting a pack of his favorite beer and putting sweet little notes on each bottle (I’ll update this post with pictures of the other gifts when they’re done). And last but not least, I got him a really nice watch!
I think I am all set! I am so excited!!
